Sain Bainuu

Well everything is going good, and I know everybody has been patient for some details and I just happen to have some time. Right now Alli and I are in a town north of the capital city beginning our training. We along with the rest of the peace corps trainees [pct] are staying at an old soviet hotel in this town. We have it good because our room is relatively clean and bug free. Otherwise it is exactly what you would imagine an old soviet hotel to look like. Other pct's dont have it so good. Our day consists of breakfast around eight thirty then language training for an hour and a half then all types of other training till about six with an hour or two lunch break in there somewhere. It is overwhelming but we are dealing with it. On Sunday we move into our host families Hasha. A Hasha is basically a family compound that is surrounded by a small fence and usually has a guard dog which we are not to pet. It will be nice to get to a permanent location and not to have to live out of our back packs. Hopefully one of us will have access to the internet so we can update over the next week or two. Love Mike and Alli

Sain Bainuu - I hope that means "Hello" and not something, a-hem, untoward! So glad to see a new post and to hear that all is going well. We really can't believe that you are living in an old soviet hotel! What a scream! Glad it is relatively bug-free too. Marina said in one of the other posts that you should teach us a word or phrase in your posts, and she is right, that would be very cool. We love you and miss you both. Take care and keep in touch.

Hi kids,

We are going to coordinate the care packages, otherwise it will look like the Berlin Airlift every time you need something. We all wish we were there, it must be invigorating to have new experiances every day. It is also great that you both have a good sense of humor. We look forward to your next email.

Hey there!
So glad to get caught up on the status of your adventure in "Magnolia." Sounds like you're off to a great start. Once you figure out the basics: language, food, customs, directions to the closest WalMart, etc.!!)the rest will be easy! Hope your host families are fabulous---they are lucky to have such great guests.
Love you!

Mike & Alli;

Well your hotel sounds a little like the Tower of Terror in Disney..but with all the dust you have said is in the air - how do you know what's a bug and what's dust?

Glad to hear you're doing fine - seems like you both are adjusting to the new life 1/2 way around the world!!!

Just think, when you finally get back (and I'm sure the time is going to fly....yea right)you will have so much experience that you can build your own, two story gur in Dad's backyard...J Taft would love to see that huh?

Take care and we all enjoy the messages - care packages will be coordinated maybe even a surprise in one or two.

Love ya both and keep together - even though Allie hides from you.

UJ,AD,CJ & CM....plus an old dog..that you can pet...

Dear Alli & Mike,
It is so good to hear from you. Hang in there and you will be tough enough to do anything you choose. Please let it be in the USA. You two are professionals in weed pulling and replanting. This will help in the garden. Maybe we will send tomato seeds for Alli, also lettuce seed and you will have a salad. I love you both and pray several times a day for God to keep you both in HIS LOVE and CARE!
LOTS OF LOVE
