Mongolian Diet-Mike

Hello everyone. This is the first time that I have been able to get on the internet since we arrived here and I only have a couple of minutes left before I have to go back to class. Everything is going good, my host family is very nice. The mother and father are both retired and a 16 year old daughter still lives at home, allthough she is rarely there. They have about a half acre hasha which is planted with vegetables and fruit trees. My out house is nice which is good. We have been gone for two weeks now and I have lost 15 pounds. It might have something to do with the 35 minute walk to school then back for lunch then back to school then back home. Or that all my family makes is meat and rice or meat and noodles. Luckily they are both cooked well and they are good. Language lessons are definatley tough, after four hours of mongolian your head feels like it is about to explode. Patsy we just got your letter yesterday the 13th and you mailed it on the 21st of may. So that gives everyone some kind of time frame for mailing letters. I cant think off the top of my head if there is anything that I need in a package. Maybe some good toilet paper, this stuff is killing me.

-Allison, I hope that you are doing all right. I miss you. I can see your Bagh from my bedroom window and I look towards you every night. I love you so much. I will see you this weekend, if we do not talk meet me at your school at noon. Love Mike.

Hello My Son - so good to hear from you!! 15 lbs already, huh? My word, you will be skinny-minny by the time you come home. I may have to move there just to be on that wonder diet! So glad that the host family's cooking is good.

The training sounds incredible. Four hours of language a day is intense! Bet by the end of training you two will be quite fluent. How cool is that!

I know your free time is short, but try to give us a little more detail on your every day lives. We all are hungry for it!

Take care. We love you both.

Hey Mike - good to hear from you and I agree with your Mom on the weight loss....you might have a whole host of us there soon...but I think I might try the 35 min walk in Wheaton first...once a week should do it huh?

Four hours of language lessons a day? How many words can they have to learn? I think it would be nice to to fluent in Mongolian...never know what neighborhood you and Alli might move into when you get back...and how cool would it be to order food in Mongolian at the Mongolian Grill in Chicago....or the ability for you and Allie to talk without having anyone know what you're saying....real cool huh!

Love you both and always love to hear what's going on...same old stuff here so you're not missing anything except some loud, ugle bugs hanging around...cacadeas or some goofy kind of bug....

Give Alli a hug from us!!

maybe i have to come to mongolia to lose weight
i think i have gained 15 pounds from picking up jim fast food every night or going out to eat
it was his week to cook so he shopped the yellow pages. we had to go all the way to portillos to eat hot dogs when we had some in the fridge. oh well outings are good - maybe we should have to walk! i sure missed mike on garbage day. Maya has been awesome till this afternoon when jim was packing up to go to the hospital and she went into her crouching on the rug hoping no one would see her if they were going to make her get in a car! Plus she left the yard twice but stayed right on the other side of the wire and ran up and down with mutley him just a barking. we put new batteries in her collar and tightened it - she has lost weight too - just kidding. Hey how come they have no water for baths and no good TP but they have scales for you to check your weight? did you get on the goat scales?
love both of you

i decided today that you are probably my safest kids - you can't even get hit by a car.

Danger Mike,

Glad to see you haven't been sold into white slavery yet. I'm sure Alli won't waste much more time, though. You may want to consider a preemptive strike. Seriously, we’re all really proud to know two people who are doing such selfless work. I’m still getting the care package together…I’ll send you some TP with a picture of the Presidents face on it, and maybe some Pepto. Try and stay away from the leaches this time.

-Brandon

hey mike, it's saturday night, do you know where your wife is?

seriously...we hope that you've found each other and are spending some quality time. A hug from you could make a whole lot of stress go away, at least that's what I hope for Alli and you.

We'd love to hear more about the country, the people, the culture...have either of you taken photo's?

Love, Nancy

talked to a guy from Downers
Grove today who is in the railroad business???
he said that Mongolia is going to be huge in that industry and more
he has someone that works for him that has Mongolia as a territory and the guy is scared to death since he doesn't speak the language or understand the people
he said when you guys get through you will be invaluable to companies planning expansion in that area - go figure after you guys are through they will open restaurants!
i went to the grocery store for the first time since you guys left - and every thing i wanted to buy was something that you guys would eat with me -unlike dad who is on a cheetos, lemons, lime diet.
